If I had a few key words to describe Daniel, all of which comprise a recipe for success in an uber-competitive and unpredictable real estate deal market like Manhattan, they would be “analytical, thoughtful, methodical, poised, persistent, organized, problem-solver, detail-oriented.” With these attributes, many of which undoubtedly stem from his background as a lawyer and project manager, I knew Daniel was the right broker to assist me in navigating the difficult market in Manhattan and securing just the right apartment that would meet all of my criteria within a limited period of time. Understanding my criteria, Daniel was able to arrange showings and make recommendations right away on potential candidates and was extremely helpful in narrowing the choices ultimately to the right one or two finalists by explaining the pros/cons of each candidate in a very analytical way, including thoughts about true value, expected economic returns, appreciation potential, etc. When it came time to submitting an offer and going into contract, Daniel’s poise, persistence and problem-solving ability were truly exemplified in the result that we were able to secure, and at certain critical points, save, a deal for an extremely competitive condo unit in a prime location and building with a sale contingency, which is a rarity for Manhattan real estate. Daniel was able to mobilize quickly the team of bankers and lawyers needed to perform diligence and enter into contract within the very short window of time we had to work with. All throughout the process, Daniel was actively engaged, accessible and responsive to all of my concerns and queries as a first-time homebuyer in Manhattan, always making me feel like my deal was important and a priority. Earnest is the best word to describe Daniel Chun (humble would be the next best word, but earnest comes first). Daniel's sincere effort and goodwill was a relief in this frenzied experience of NYC apartment hunting. Our nineteen-year-old daughter needed an apartment. She is an opera student at a NYC music conservatory. Dorm life is not a good fit for her academic rigor and practice/performance demands. She was fortunate to find three other wholesome young women with whom to share an apartment. And herein lies the problem: what landlord in NYC will rent to four teenage girls? The first agent we met told us, "You are small potatoes. This is hardly worth my time!" Though this agent managed to show us a few places, they were all over budget. In a matter of minutes the monthly rent went down by hundreds and agent commissions were slashed just because the agent really wanted to 'make it work.’ All of the agents we worked with showed a lack of integrity that was exhausting, yet somehow we still needed to find an apartment! One of the girls found Daniel Chun's name on the back of a church bulletin. His integrity was evident from the beginning. Daniel was very clear with us—renting to four students with four guarantors is not easy. In addition to being clear, he presented us with viable options. I was in contract to sell the apartment I had lived in for nearly 20 years, had not found that "bigger place" I had intended to buy, and had less than 2 weeks to find a rental in NYC.
