First, Teresa's marketing is top notch, and we wouldn't have been able to find her without her great marketing outreach. For the sale of our apt, Teresa helped us stage and show our apartment in the best possible light, including adding mirrors to help bring more light into the apartment and offering other staging tips. She brought in a professional photographer who helped show our apt the best way possible. She showed us comparable transactions and helped us understand the price range that our apt would likely sell for. Because of this, we had an offer at a very strong price per square foot within a week, with additional cash offers to boot. She worked diligently with the seller's agent to help expedite the process and to keep the deal moving (buyer was obtaining part of financing from parents who lived abroad, so there was a lot of KYC/AML checks to pass). She formed a very good relationship w the buyers banker to constantly stay appraised on updates, providing more transparency to us than we would otherwise have. She also formed productive relationships with buyers attorney and agent, in order to keep the deal moving forward. In addition to our home sale, she helped us buy another apartment. At first, we weren't sure what we were looking for, and we looked at a thousand different scenarios, but Teresa patiently helped us narrow it down. We talked and analyzed our financial situation, to understand what we could responsibly spend on a new apartment. Working and listening closely with our needs, we saw over 60 apts in under 2 months, and I felt very versed on what the market looked like (in several different neighborhoods) by the end. Then Teresa created detailed comparable apt analysis (based on price per square ft, building/apt amenities, taxes/common charges, and specific characteristics like sponsor units) to help us understand where market pricing was, and helped us understand what price to come in at with an eye on where the seller was and what other offers they had. She helped negotiate details in our interest, and was able to identify and use every piece of leverage that we had available to help us get a good deal. After going in contract, Teresa helped coordinate our purchase application and helped the board understand who we are. In every step of the way, she was able to extract key information behind every buyer and seller that helped us understand motivations and the story behind every counter-party, which greatly helped us assess the scenario. Right before going in contract to buy our apt, she had a professional inspector come in and give us a complete picture on the state of the apartment, highlighting what could be potential issues down the road and informing our purchase decision better, providing much peace of mind. At the end, as we were in between moving out from a sale and moving into our new home, she helped negotiate an optimal move in/move out date that reduced our time without a home, which helped us tremendously during a particularly stressful event (my fiance and I were also getting married within this time frame and planning the wedding!) Couldn't have done it without Teresa! She is a true professional and I cannot recommend her highly enough. - Wesley L.
Teresa helped us buy our first home, and we had a great experience with her! She was there to guide and facilitate every step of the way, from initially checking out properties and making offers, to putting together the co-op application to finally celebrating the close. Teresa does her homework and puts in the time to help you get what you want, and on top of that she is reliable, genuine, and easy to work with. - Mary R.
Teresa was nothing short of amazing. She has her finger on the pulse of the market, and was able to show me a plethora of different places very quickly. I'd work with Teresa again in a minute. - Meghan G.
Teresa is a very professional broker. I reached out to her to view a place in Manhattan and she responded right away. I had very limited time windows but she made it happen. Teresa is very friendly, provides lots of information and acts highly professional. If you get lost in your apartment hunt, she’s the one to call! - Stefanie G. W.
Teresa was a wonderful, thoughtful, and knowledgable agent to work with throughout our move. She organized our whole apartment hunt well in advance and communicated the details of each listing in an extremely clear and thorough manner. She was so friendly, polite, and professional. We immediately felt comfortable with her! She wasn't afraid to tackle the dirty work of negotiating and dealing with management companies on our behalf, which was something we greatly appreciated. Even after the lease signing, she is continuing to help us figure out the next steps of our move, so we have felt supported throughout this whole process. In the end, we got the apartment of our dreams and we couldn't have done it without her! - Taylor P.
Teresa helped my girlfriend and me find an apartment in Astoria. From the moment she introduced herself, Teresa was extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. She put together a list of apartments for us to see and set up each appointment with the appropriate party(ies) at each building we visited. During the apartment tours, Teresa was very organized - she had a file with our information, as well as information on each apartment we were going to see, and she asked many helpful questions and took detailed notes. Once we picked our apartment, Teresa filled out and submitted our applications and helped us in negotiating our rental rate. She accompanied us to lease signing, and had reviewed the lease and pointed out areas of concern prior to signing.
We were extremely impressed with Teresa's professionalism and how easy she made the renting process for us. - Joshua C.
Teresa was extremely dedicated to assisting us with our search, which resulted in finding our new home on the UWS. She was detail oriented, listened to our requirements and had excellent follow up via email, calls and text. Teresa will be our first call for any real estate needs in the future and will refer to our friends & colleagues. - Lacie F.
Shopping for a rental in NYC is often compared to painful dental procedures like root canal and tooth extraction. It can be worse than that because it usually takes longer to find an apartment than to fix a tooth. Realtors often make clear they’d prefer to work in sales rather than in the rental market. It makes sense. Commissions are higher and buyers seem more substantial. By definition they’re less transient. Teresa Alessandro is a bright star compared to the majority of realtors I worked with trying to find an apartment for my 87 yr old mother and me. Teresa was both professional and patient as she combed available listings for units that suited our very specific needs. She was diligent in gathering all the information that might impact our decision and flexible as I often had to reschedule appointments due to my mother’s condition. Teresa is warm and understanding always making me feel as though my search was as important as any other she was undertaking. Working with Teresa was a pleasure and I recommend her without reservation. - Liz H.
