Moving Midtown West By Kamini Ramdeen | May 05, 2014
Midtown West will one day be the home to the mammoth sized Hudson Yards Project, which is already undergoing construction. In order to ensure that the many people that will be moving into that area will be accommodated by mass transit the New York Building Congress (NYBC) has proposed the Moving Midtown West (MMW) project.

Penn Station: Still Terrible But Hope is on the Horizon By Olivia Smedley | October 03, 2013
Every day, around 600,000 commuters flow in and out of Penn Station, and boy do they hate it. Why is it so difficult to get in, around, and through Penn during peak hours (and even times in between)? It could be because the current station was built to accommodate only a third of the hundreds of thousands that arrive each morning. Any commuter knows how dismal, depressing, and downright annoying it is to simply be in the western world’s largest transportation hub, and for almost 20 years the city has been planning on its expansion.

The Battle Over Penn Station’s New Layout Has Started By Clemence Fontaine | June 05, 2013
The case for moving the world’s most famous arena is not on the agenda yet. The City Planning Commission has given Madison Square Garden fifteen more years to prepare for its eventual relocating. If the city’s commissioners give the green signal to this proposal, then that means that the “World’s Most Famous Arena” will probably soon have to find a new location to call as its home in the city.

Penn Station Moves Forward in Renovation By Stephanie Spencer | July 03, 2012
With daily commuters heavily crowding the dimly lit basement walls, Penn Station and Garment District residents have the Metropolitan Transit Authority to thank for its future. The transit authority announced on July 1st that Aecom, a Los Angeles based construction firm, will devise a renovation plan that will hopefully improve Manhattan apartment owner and commuters’ overall experience. Once the firm evaluates the station, deciding which essentials to focus on, responsibly will be divided between the Long Island Railroad, New Jersey Transit, and Amtrak. The entitled plan, Penn Station Vision, will not be paid for by Moynihan Station as previously believed, and instead will be funded by the MTA’s next five-year capital plan, taking effect in 2015. Lack of federal funds, however, may possibly hinder the MTA’s plans for construction in the future.
